Biography
This is my 19th year of teaching and my 9th year of teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Secondary (Grades 5-12) Mathematics at Concordia University in St. Paul, MN in 2003, and also earned a Masters of Education at St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis, MN in 2009. Before coming to Minneapolis Public Schools, I taught math for four and a half years at Champlin Park High School in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. In 2009, I left Champlin Park to spend one year in Cusco, Peru (South America), teaching English as a Second Language. A year later, I took a teaching position at St. Paul American School in Beijing, China, teaching math and English as a Second Language and stayed in China for four years. My experiences abroad have truly opened my eyes and given me new insights about our world! I have a true passion for learning about languages and cultures that are different from my own!
During my time in MPS, I have served as the District ALC Math Lead, traveling around the district and helping students recover math credits for graduation and teaching in the alternative learning programs at Henry High School and Edison High School (HAP and SHARP Programs). This year I will co-teaching and teaching in small groups to help students make sure they stay on track with their math classes! I absolutely love working with students in the Minneapolis School District because I love meeting, learning about, and growing with students who have come from so many different backgrounds. I can’t wait to learn, grow, and celebrate with our students this year!
